Basil is an herb in the mint family. It adds flavor to meals, and its nutrients may provide health benefits, such as reducing oxidative stress and supporting cardiovascular health

Direct sow: 4 weeks before the last spring frost until 2 weeks before the first fall frost at 3-week intervals.

Harvest: Pick leaves of basil as soon as the plants are 6 to 8 inches tall.

Fertilizer: Sparingly throughout the season with a 5-10-5 fertilizer
